Digital Skills, Access and Inclusion
During the second week of Workforce Development Month, we’re focusing on digital skills, broadband access and the power of an inclusive workforce.
Digital Disparity and Demand
According to the new 2022 Global Skills Index by Salesforce, 76% of workers feel unequipped to function in a digital-first world, but only 28% are actively involved in digital skills learning or training. Employer demand for employees with digital skills has increased greatly, from social media and virtual workplace collaboration, to digital business analysis and product management.
Digital skills are essential now and for the future of work. Need to refresh or upgrade your digital skills? We can connect you to classes and digital skills training available through our partnerships with community colleges and training providers. You also may qualify for tuition assistance! Send an email to workforcetraininginfo@dfwjobs.com to tell us which digital skills you’re interested in developing.
Access and Inclusion
It's difficult to gain digital skills without access to basic internet service. Our employer partner Nextlink is making work, training, school, health care and other services more accessible through participation in the Affordable Connectivity Program. The program provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount to purchase a laptop or desktop computer from participating providers. Learn more about the Affordable Connectivity Program and eligibility requirements.
Nextlink is also a strong supporter of our Summer Earn and Learn (SEAL) Program, which provides employability skills training and paid work experience for students with disabilities. Watch how one of our SEAL participants, Jackson, went from a temporary summer employee to full-time employee to Employee of the Month!
